Our prices

Pricing is a funny thing. Charge too much and the phone collects dust, charge too little and no one takes you seriously. In each case the result is the same, you go out of business.

We decided early on that we weren't going to compete with cheap and nasty web sites, with the kids in their bedrooms, with off-the-peg templated web sites or other low-cost alternatives. We build quality web sites.

In our experience cheap web sites can be really really expensive.

The bottom top line

Quality web sites are typically developed over weeks or months. Because our sites are bespoke we end up working with a wide range of client budgets - a typical Semantic web development will fall into the £8,000 - £24,000 ex VAT bracket, with a substantial minority of projects falling either side of those numbers.

But let's talk about you

But, of course, your budget is your budget. You have a specific amount to invest, or a general range in mind. We understand that, which is why we design bespoke solutions, solutions designed to fit your budget.

It's true that we don't operate at the cheap end of the market (see above). We are a quality agency and our prices reflect that. We believe that "cheap design is expensive".

Well. We would say that, wouldn't we... but our clients agree.

Concessions, exceptions and special cases

As a rule money is not the most important thing to us. If your project is particularly unusual, interesting, or exciting, give us a call.

Just to clarify though, these cases are exceptions. We aren't one of those companies whose "lowest offer" gets lower the faster you walk away.

Free Web Consultancy

One last exception. In certain cases we will offer Web Consultancy for free, typically in exchange for a payment or share of profits once an agreed goal is reached. In other words if our ideas don't deliver, you don't pay.

To qualify for free consultancy you'll need to have a specific problem, and be prepared to negotiate a deal based on results.

By it's nature consultancy is a soft endeavour, if you are interested contact Nick to chat through your issues. Even if we don't get farther than that, we'll happily give you some free advice.

What we don't charge for

But let's be clear, we charge for working. We don't charge for phone calls, traveling to meetings, having our morning cup of coffee, talking about the game or any of that other stuff.

We charge for time spent attacking your project, sweating the details, getting into the nitty gritty. That seems reasonable to us.

We're on a mission, help us out

The Semantic Smile... our Mission Statement We drew this smile a long time ago as kind of a joke, but somewhere along the way we realised how important it was.

We don't come to work to have a horrible time, and we're guessing you don't either.

So it turned out to be all about the smile; yours, ours... and of course your clients. See our guarantee below for details.

If we don't make you smile, you don't pay
(our simple guarantee)

If we don't make you happy, you don't pay. This makes perfect sense for us, both as a business strategy and as a point of principle.

We only want happy clients, and we'll certainly do everything we can to make that happen. But if it doesn't work out we'll bow out with a smile.

No invoice, no hard feelings.
