Blog > The great rubber-band ball challenge!

UPDATE: See our progress on the Semantic BallCam page!

Nearly every morning, with the morning post, we usually find a free gift from the postman in the shape of a rubber-band. The accustomed ritual (until recently) has been to flick them at each other or use them for target practice on the toys that line the top shelf of our book cabinet.

I have since decided to use them for a much more challenging task: creating a huge rubber-band ball! I searched the office high and low for all the stray bands I could find and have starting putting the ball together...

As you can see, the ball is only tiny at the moment (currently about an eighth the size of my mug of tea). The challenge of making the ball much larger could take some time, so I think we need your help!

Are there any stray, lonely, despondent, jaded rubber-bands laying around your office or home? Do you think they would enjoy taking part in our Semantic challenge? If so, why not pop them in an envelope and send them to us:
